GATE 2027 is organized by IIT Madras. The official GATE 2027 website is live at gate2027.iitm.ac.in; registration through GOAPS is expected to begin in late August 2026. Below are the details about the GATE 2027 official site, exam pattern, and eligibility.
GATE 2027 exam dates: The GATE 2027 exam is expected in the first two weekends of February 2027 (tentative).
GATE 2027 Exam Pattern
GATE 2027 exam contains a total of 65 questions worth a maximum of 100 marks. From 2014 onward, the examination for all the papers is carried out in an online Computer Based Test (CBT) mode where the candidates are shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen.
Question Types:
- •Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): Four answer options out of which the correct one has to be chosen
- •Numerical Answer Type (NAT): The answer is a real number, to be entered via an on-screen keypad and computer mouse
- •Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): One or more correct answers from the given options
Candidates are provided with blank paper sheets for rough work and these have to be returned after the examination.
GATE 2027 Eligibility
The following are eligible to take GATE 2027:
- ✓Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering/Technology)
- ✓Master's degree holders in any relevant Science subject
- ✓Candidates in the final year of the above programs
- ✓Candidates with qualifications recognized by the Government of India as equivalent to the above
Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to MS, PhD in India. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.
